Exciting news – published in Dark Mountain, Issue 21!
My ancestor-people and I are honored and impossibly excited to announce that the good folks at Dark Mountain have chosen to include one of our stories in the gorgeous Issue 21, aptly named “Confluence.” I’ve been a fan of Dark Mountain’s work for a few years now – their manifesto was one of the first things I found when I discovered deep adaptation – and their ability to collect and tell the stories that humans need as we move into this uncertain (but still possibly bright! But challenging) future. We need these stories now, I can’t underscore it enough. We need to know how else humans could live, so that we can envision a way forward, a connected future.
I’m still a little shocked that my-and-my-people’s stories are among those stories. My people are less shocked, they say. I promised the ancestors that I would tell the stories of what I have seen, and we’re so stoked that other humans like them.
If you’re interested, this issue (and so many others! Such good work!) is available to purchase at Dark Mountain’s shop, here. And their website is just an awesome experience in general.
Infinite thanks to Karin at Mermaid Forest for starting me on the animism journey by suggesting I talk to the trees in the first place, to Daniel Foor at Ancestral Medicine for teaching so well about ancestral lineage healing, and to Alyson Lanier at alysonlanier.com and her people for holding space so strongly and wisely for me and my people as we did the work. May all of the blessings that you have given to me and my people come back to you 1000-fold as we all keep doing the good work in this amazing world.
[All of these folks listed above are awesome humans who can help you do some great work, if what I write about sounds like stuff you’d be into. Strongly encourage you to check out their websites in the links!]
